Rules
Review the following requirements before submitting through FilmFreeway.
Eligibility
Narrative, documentary, animation, experimental, and hybrid films may be submitted when the submitter has authority to enter the work.
- Submit to either the short or feature division according to runtime
- Incomplete or inaccessible screeners may be ruled ineligible
- False or materially misleading entry data may result in disqualification
Runtime divisions
Runtime includes credits. Exactly 30:00 belongs to the short division; 30:01 and longer belongs to the feature division.
Rights and permissions
The submitter is responsible for music, performance, archive, trademark, and other rights required for review and any authorized winner promotion.
Language and subtitles
Dialogue in languages other than English or Japanese requires readable English subtitles unless the work is intentionally non-verbal.
Selection and final decisions
All eligible films are reviewed against creative achievement criteria. The jury's decision is final.
Fees and refunds
Submission fees are non-refundable except when the event is cancelled by the organizer or due to a natural disaster.
Withdrawal and corrections
Requests must include the FilmFreeway submission identifier and come from the registered contact address. Withdrawal does not automatically create a refund right.
